WARREN The days of envelopes and stamps have ceased to exist. Today's advanced technology encourages all generations worldwide to put down the pen and pencil and pick up a keyboard.

Through the Internet, John Brown, 14, of East Middle School in Warren does just that.

Since December 2000, Brown has been the Webmaster of www.coachtressel.cjb.net, a site devoted to his role model, The Ohio State University head football coach Jim Tressel.

Brown said, '' I respect Coach Tressel, how he runs the team and how much success he gets.''

The site is updated twice daily containing information on Tressel, the Ohio State Buckeyes, a message board for fans to chat, opinion polls and a feedback link. The site has received more than 18,500 hits.

Brown, however, is interested not only in computers, but is a die-hard football and baseball fan. He enjoys watching football and baseball at the stadium or on television, and also plays second base on a recreation baseball team.

During the baseball season, Brown spends his time at Cafaro Field in Niles as a batboy for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He enjoys the atmosphere with both the players and coaches.

Brown said, '' I would like to be a coach for a professional baseball or football team.''

Brown receives a lot of feedback from other Tressel and Buckeye fans. He has no clue if Tressel knows of his site, however, is hoping it is brought to his attention.
