The Smash Babies

Alfred James Hood, Wes Holbrook, Mike Boker

"The roaring chords of the Stooges' 'I wanna be your dog' signifies the beginning of the Smash Babies' show. the rumbling of Mike Boker's bass follows Alfred Hood's crunching guitar and frantic shout. The steady-as-a-brick-wall drums of Wes Holbrook carry them through the next 45 minutes of high energy white noise. The Smash Babies take musical and performance cues from proto punk bands such as the Stooges. Early alternative bands such as The Velvet Underground, hardcore grunge bands such as Black Flag, the Germs, and Early Nirvana, British bands such as the Rolling Stones, and the simplicity of the white stripes all have contributed to their style.

The Smash Babies set about composing their own music. They played their first live show roughly a month after their inception in early December, 2005. The show, although tame by comparison to current performances, still climaxed with a Broken P.A. and audience members being rushed to the hospital. They soon developed a propensity for feedback and dissonant noise - more often than not, ending shows with a battle of amps between the screeching cacophony of the guitar, the rumbling bass, and the pounding of the jungle drums. If you are a fan of unhinged rock and roll and bored with the substandard predictable and unenergetic 'emo music' that you are undoubtedly bombarded with, then you are cordially invited to join The Smash Babies."
